The Los Angeles County Women’s Leadership Conference Committee hosted their 9th Annual Women’s Leadership Conference, Presented by Bank of America, on Thursday, November 29th, 2018 at the beautiful Pasadena Convention Center. The conference had a full house and was sold out again this year with over 900 guests in attendance. With more than 18 Sponsors, 33+ Exhibitors, and concurrent breakout sessions, the event was an unforgettable experience!
This year’s theme, “Stronger Together,” emphasizes that while every generation confronts challenges in equity and human dignity, Los Angeles takes pride in valuing the inherent strengths in our differences. The ability to include and value different perspectives, and thus integrate our unique experiences into a cohesive whole, can accomplish amazing feats: revolutionary technology, shrewd business models, dynamic arts and entertainment, holistic education, mutual advocacy, and so much more.
The conference featured an impressive lineup of speakers including Gregory Boyle, Founder of Homeboy Industries, who spoke about the value of compassion, kindness, and kinship as tools to fight despair and decrease marginalization. Former President & COO of the three-time WNBA Champions Los Angeles Sparks, Christine Simmons, was one of the keynotes who motivated attendees on “How to Unapologetically Rise.” This year also featured the conference’s first Women in Technology Panel, which brought together five women from both public and private sectors to discuss their remarkable careers and explore the future of technology.
Innovate Marketing Group managed the event in its entirety from planning, registration, sponsorship/exhibitor management, activations, venue, catering, speaker coordination, to marketing and collateral. The stage design was a great reflection of this year’s theme, with four pillars and a center arch coming together as one powerful image. Conference attendees were also delighted by a “Be Inspired” wall where they take a card with an inspiring quote and leave a card to share their wisdom with others.
Highlights from this year’s conference included the reintroduction of a social media contest to award prizes to attendees who engaged with the conference on social media (Instagram and Twitter). Prize and gift bag sponsors included favorites such as LANEIGE, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Urban Decay Cosmetics, and more. Attendees left the conference with a new sense of purpose and pride — they were indeed #StrongerTogether.
